In de jaren '60 en '70 werden oorringen een iconisch modeaccessoire dat werd geassocieerd met de tegencultuur en diverse stijlbewegingen van die tijd. Oversized hoops werden gedragen door Afrikaanse en Latijns-Amerikaanse vrouwen en zijn nog steeds een iconisch accessoire dat te zien is in stedelijke straatstijlen, niet alleen in Latijns-Amerika, maar over de hele wereld.
Op straat in Mexico zag ik veel 'papel picado', kleurrijke vlaggetjes van vloeipapier. Het toont de creativiteit, cultuur en festiviteiten van de Mexicanen. Ik wilde dit vertalen naar een ontwerp voor een oorbel en dacht meteen aan een iconische oorring waarin ik deze print kon verwerken.
Samen met de tekst "La Vida Loca" kun je letterlijk het gekke leven leiden en benadrukken zoals jij dat wilt. So let's stand on the table and just dance the night away!
